Israel has completed successful flight test of the Arrow-3 which is designed to intercept ballistic missiles outside of the earth’s atmosphere.
The test was performed at a test site in central Israel, and led by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in cooperation with the Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) of the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDRD) in Israel’s Ministry of Defense, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

The Arrow-3 was first tested successfully in February 2018, after months of delays and technical problems. It is considered one of the most powerful weapons of its kind in the world and has been in development since 2008.
The Arrow- 3 weapons system intercepts ballistic missiles or most advanced long-range missile defense system outside of the earth’s atmosphere, taking out projectiles and their nuclear, biological, chemical or conventional warheads closer to their launch sites. It was developed in a joint project between the Defense Ministry’s Missile Defense Organization and the American Missile Defense Agency. Work is underway on the development of a yet more advanced system, the Arrow-4.
Note :‐ The Arrow-3 (long-range) is an integral part of Israel’s multi-layered defense system, which also includes Iron Dome (short-range) from Gaza and David’s Sling (medium-range).
In 2021, Israel said it was developing a new ballistic shield system, dubbed Arrow-4, jointly with the United States.
